5.1 Surround Sound

Hi, so I recently bought the Logitech 5.1 surround sound speakers on DDMS http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/70423

But as I started researching online, it seems that you can only get "true" surround sound if you have a supported sound card on the PC and also content that is recorded specifically for 5.1. Anyone have any experience with this?

Can I get the 5.1 effect from a laptop?

If you plug it in to the regular headphone jack on your laptop, you won't get true surround sound. You'll have to buy a USB sound card for your laptop.
