So..... 3 days in hot, humid, and sticky Cuba, and 1 day in hotter, humid-er, and stickier Panama. No matter when, no matter where - I always had ice cold water. Went through 4-5 liters per day.

Un. Freaking. Believable.

I didn't get the straw, so I only had the wide mouth. Yes, it sometimes spilled a bit while drinking, but honestly I didn't mind. It just cooled me off a bit ;D.

Hung if from my belt loop with a carabiner attached to the cover loop, worked like a charm.

And...

Am I gonna regret not getting one?

Yes, yes he did ;D ;D ;D.

+1

Great purchase!!  I thought it might be overrated but it is not overrated at all, it is definitely worth the price... (Can't wait to upgrade with the straw cap)... Thanks for the recommendation!

I also used it a few times recently. Loved it. Wide mouth makes it easier to wash as well.

We also bought the Hydroflask and use it daily even while at home. Nothing beats it's ability to keep cold water on hand anywhere you are for hours on end!

There is only one hiking water solution.  You are wearing a backpack anyway, unless you are a lunatic and don't bring food/clothing/extra water with you.  So your water should go in your backpack and leave your hands free. And it should be a bladder with a hose that goes over your shoulder, like a camelback.

Are you trying to say that there's something better than the hydro flask?!
Heresy!

Because?

i got married with a percolator thing that became very hot. i never used it because i hate clutter on my counter tops. i used to keep a kettle on the hot plate for baby bottles. as soon as i stopped with the bottles i saw myself barely using it. it broke, i never got a new one. only i drink coffee in my house so i usually go without on Shabbos.

If you fill it with cold water, it usually stays fairly cool in your backpack.

And there are many things worse than warm water in the middle of a long, sweaty hike.  One example that comes to mind is dehydration induced heat stroke leading to death.

On a more serious note, I think there's a place for both. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

There are times/situations when I'd rather have a camelback and times I'd rather have a hydro flask.

Exactly! Like of your biking for example, a Camel Back makes a lot more sense then trying to drink form a Hydroflask even with the straw lid.
