avios or amex points

I have alot of avios and amex points but everytime i check for availability form nyc to lax there is no availability.  Obviously american has seats.  How can i book american using avios even if i am willing to pay more miles.

But in short, you can't. Only can book the lowest sAAver awards with Avios.
