Windows 10 boots extremely fast.  Are you basing it on a restart, or shutting off and then turning on?
see this:
http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/174101-windows-10-cold-boot-fast-restart-slow/
You are right. My experience was probably based on restarts etc.

What is interesting, I find that to boot until the point where I have to enter the password it goes much quicker than 8/8.1; whereas from when I enter my password till I can actually start using it it takes longer than 8/8.1.

Pros

Some really cool things you can do with your laptop touchpad (some are old but I'll list all that I know):
  • Obviously, move around the mouse...
  • Click by tapping with a single finger.
  • Select by quickly double-tapping with a single finger and dragging.
  • Right click by tapping with 2 fingers.
  • Scroll by sliding 2 fingers in any direction, horizontally or vertically.
  • Zoom in by stretching out with 2 fingers on the touchpad.
  • Zoom out by pinching 2 fingers together on the touchpad.
  • Open search/cortana by tapping with 3 fingers on the touchpad simultaneously.
  • See desktop by placing 3 fingers on the touchpad and swiping toward yourself.
  • Return to previous window by placing 3 fingers on the touchpad and swiping away from yourself.
  • See all open windows by placing 3 fingers on the touchpad and swiping away from yourself.
  • Switch between open windows by placing 3 fingers on the touchpad and swiping right or left.
  • Open the windows action center by tapping on the touchpad with 4 fingers.

Add on anything else you may know.

Driver support is still not there yet. This should be sorted out pretty soon, but as of now I wouldn't recommend upgrading friends/family pcs. Case in point: Upgraded my laptop to win10, scrolling on the touchpad is broken with no win10 driver available yet.

Same here. My video driver wasn't supported and the graphics was horrible. I downgraded right away. Hope it will be sorted shortly.

Which computer do you have? By me everything is working fine I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here?

I did that as well as try older versions, newer versions etc. Will just have to wait until they update the drivers.

the regular synaptics driver doesn't work?
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Even cooler

Pro:
  • While in any app that has pages and has "back" and "forward" buttons (i.e. any browser, windows explorer etc.) you can go to previous pages by tapping with 3 fingers on the touchpad and dragging them to the left.
  • You can also go ahead one or more pages by dragging to the right.

I just tried that and it seems to work like alt-tab (switching between open windows)
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

To clarify, I wrote two things (which are technically contradictory to one another):

Pros

Some really cool things you can do with your laptop touchpad (some are old but I'll list all that I know):
    ...
    • Switch between open windows by placing 3 fingers on the touchpad and swiping right or left.
    ...
Which is like alt+tab, as you mentioned.

Then I wrote in a later post:
Even cooler

Pro:
  • While in any app that has pages and has "back" and "forward" buttons (i.e. any browser, windows explorer etc.) you can go to previous pages by tapping with 3 fingers on the touchpad and dragging them to the left.
  • You can also go ahead one or more pages by dragging to the right.
which contradicts the first post.

Now, I don't know what determines which of the two is right, but I've experienced both; sometimes one while other times the other. This is pretty interesting and if anyone can clarify it TIA.

Trying two, nothing doing. (Now my computer is in window mode for the three-finger maneuver...)

Doesn't make much of a difference, really. They are both cool features and not always can you have the best of both worlds.

Since upgrading to windows 10 I'm constantly getting errors such as low on memory etc, but the task manager shows memory usage around 30-40%

Went from 7 to 10 a couple months ago, wish I hadn't. The pros don't really have much use to me. The Start menu related cons are beyond annoying. I agree with the messyness comments - I deleted everything MS put there that I could. Search functionality, awful. But worst of all for me is that I like to use keyboard, not mouse, and selecting what I want now from the menu is a cruel game and I hate it. Compared to W7 where, for example, if I wanted to shut down I hit Start -> Right -> Right -> Enter; in W10 it is Start -> Up -> Up -> Enter -> Up -> Up -> Enter. It feels like entering cheat codes in Nintendo

Start up screen is awful too. Why do I have to click or type before the password screen appears???
