were you guys able to enjoy it as well or were you hyper focused on the photography aspect?
i find it to be a tough balance to maintain even though i dont go to a destination solely for photography but more as a way to document my trip
Absolutely; we didn't just see Iceland through our viewfinders. In fact during the last day we hardly took any pictures at all, as (spoiler alert

!) Iceland unleashed all the weather-fury it could muster at us.
And this happened plenty throughout the trip, not just during the aurora:
Once I got my pictures of the Northern Lights in Iceland, I put the camera down and just watched the show.
