you need a boarding pass

Can you just book a refundable ticket for later that day, get the boarding pass, and cancel it?

Can one still get lounge access with an expired (2/2015) and inactive AMEX Platinum? Any lounges in EWR or TAM work? Thanks.

Not expired
Are you sure with an inactive Amex it would work? I know with lounge club, but if IIRC it doesn't work with an inactive Amex.

We may be misunderstanding each other or the OP but inactive amex will work whereas LC will not

Flying LUV out of LAX. Unfortunately, Terminal 1 does not have any lounges. I have Priority Pass (via Platinum) and a United Club Card. Has anyone accessed a lounge when flying LUV? Which terminal is the most convenient (from the map Terminal 2, 3 or 7 looks like the most convenient) and which lounge would you pick between Maple Leaf, Virgin America Loft, and United Club? Thanks.

Yes, I have also heard (never done it) people booking expensive first class refundable ticket, accessing lounge and canceling the tickets.

Depends which lounge. Many still accept Platinum.
If you need the priority pass some will allow you to enter with just the numbers which you should be able to get already.

Didn't see an answer in the last few pages,
Does an inactive Plat card allow access to Amex's Centurion lounges?
Any recent datapoints?

Would be embarrassing being turned away..  ;)
