Perhaps this was discussed before but...
I was just looking at Verizons prepaid website, and they seem to be pretty much the same rates. For a basic phone they charge only $35 for unlimited talk & text, which is cheaper than PP.
The Smartphone plan is $45 w\ 1GB which is only $5 more than PP.
If you want 2 GB data it comes out to $55, while with PP you would get 3GB for the same price.
I thought the difference would be more significant. I don't have experience dealing with Verizon or PP; how does their CS compare? Any other pro or cons with PP vs. Verizon Prepaid?

I actually was on Verizon Prepaid for awhile and was very happy with the service but now I need 5GB a month so I went back to PP.

1)Where you happier with Verizons service? A friend of mine is on PP; he may have mentioned there are issues at the beginning of the month where sometimes he doesn't have service till it resets? Can you confirm?

2)Also Verizon has a $40 activation fee which they waive if you buy a phone from them (starting at $30). What does PP charge for activation?

3)Even though I don't want internet on my phone, I may prefer a smart phone (for easier texting). With PP thats obviously not an issue. Can I use a smartphone on Verizon prepaid without getting any data on the basic phone plan?

PP doesn't have an activation fee.

1) Truth is I'm very happy with PP, I leave a small balance in the account besides for the monthly plan to tide me over for those 2 hours that the account is renewing. Since I started doing that, I've never had an issue.

2)No activation fee from PP.

3) I believe that with Verizon if you have a smartphone you need a data plan.

That's not the issue. The point is I would have to pay for data. With Verizon that $45 instead of $35.

No need to worry about those two hours, and especially not worth paying the extra money to keep in your account. Every time your monthly plan is about to renew you get a text message (I get it from number 7243 [page]) with a 14-digit numeric code upon billing of your credit card. Usually this comes like two days before the month is over. Should you ever need to place a call within those two hours between cutoff and renewal just follow these simple steps:
1: Dial #737 from your phone;
2: Press 1 for English (or hold the line);
3: Enter your 10-digit phone number starting with area code;
4: Confirm your phone number by pressing 1;
5: Press 1 to add money to your account using a PIN or prepaid card;
6: Enter the 14-digit code you got via text message;
7:........continue talking 'n texting!

The entire process shouldn't take longer than 40 seconds.

How is that different than SuperSpeed? The point is you need to have extra money in the account for those 2 hours? Am I missing something?

with pp its price per plan no matter what cell you have
those 2 hours either

or you can have a standard plan => cash balance that roles over if not used, if no min or text it eats the cash till the next refill
