Welfare/Section 8
« on: August 12, 2015, 04:21:56 PM »
I am trying to help a family with a father who is handicapped receive benefits Welfare and section 8 specifically. Would anyone know the best way to go about  applying and perhaps expediting the process. If there is an individual or agency that applies on behalf of families that would be extremely helpful.

CMIIW, section 8 was discontinued. You can only receive if you were grandfathered in

So a family that is not on S8, can get on? http://www1.nyc.gov/site/nycha/section-8/applicants.page

Applicants
As of December 10, 2009 NYCHA is no longer accepting new Section 8 applications. If you previously submitted a Section 8 housing application when the wait list was open, you may log on to the Self-Service Portal to check the status of the application.

All I was saying was that the program was not discontinued. It's a federal program across the country. That said,  there may not be vouchers available (as opposed to project based),  as seems to be the case in NYC
