Best Way to Get to South Africa on Points

I am researching the best way to get to south africa with mileage. ANA requires the least mileage (65K) but according to the representative i called also costs $400 in taxes.
Anyone know a low mileage low cost way of getting to SA?

Just noticed that AMEX rewards offers a companion ticket for 50K points with the purchase of a regular class ticket from SAA. I wonder if this works even if you reserve through Kayak or a similar website. Right now tickets are going for $1400. I need two tickets so this might be the best bet right now?

I flew once on mileage. The problem was availability, most airlines had horrible availibility.

I shocked when I found the best availability on Delta for 80k in coach. They fly direct from Atlanta. I flew KLM there and Air France back.

AA is 75k. Transfer 40k (10k bonus) starpoints to have a total of 80k AA miles.

Routing is only allowed transatlantic.
