Romania Trip
« on: August 18, 2015, 10:37:56 AM »
Hi,

I'd like to plan a trip to Romania and would like some input if someone has any experience there.  My husband's family is originally from there and he has 4 grandparents buried around the country.  The place we need to visit are Bucharest, Timisoara, Suceava & Falticeni.  Does anyone have any information regarding hotels, kosher food, driver/train or best method to get from place to place?

Also we would like to make an additional stop in Europe on the way to or from Romania, what would be the best bet, we are going with several elderly people.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know anything about Romania? Specifically, is it safe to Drive there, or is it like Ukraine?

I did a family trip this past summer. We spent a week and a half in Romania. Bucharest has a couple beautiful old shuls and an active chabad but nothing else to do do. Definitely head out of the city to Sinaia and Brasov its beautiful there. Also they have one of the coolest roads in the world called the Transfagarasan. We landed in a small little airport in Sibiu and road-tripped to Bucharest through all of these places.

Would you be able to list the shuls that you visited as well as other landmarks

Thanks

During the summer the restaurant opens an all you can eat buffet in a hotel nearby and they charge around $30 pp.
