Who said anything about there being 2 seats? Are there any with 1 for the solo traveler?

Don't see any Feb-March 2016.
There's a few sporadic Y seats at Saaver.

I tend not to travel places without a +1.

Best Part

Q: The PHL TLV flight traditionally operates with high load factors. How can it not be making money?
A: There are a lot of different factors that determine the overall success of a route. Load factor is not the only way, nor the best way, to judge a route’s performance. We also look at overall demand and the fares customers are willing to pay on that route. In the case of PHL TLV, a number of factors have resulted in poor financial performance.

Yes.

Elal can't join any alliance. Arabs won't allow.

What would El Al bring to OW? From a business perspective, TLV is covered by IB, BA, AB and RJ.

Why won't El Al join Star Alliance? there are no Arab partner airlines (Turkey doesn't count) and they would fill a gap within the Star Alliance network...

Because El Al offers no connectivity and has a pathetic 3rd rate FFP.
Do they even offer to sell a flight like JFK-JNB via TLV?

no connectivity

Why is that a requirement? Other *A partners don't necessarily only join when they can offer a route that no one else can...

The whole point of an alliance is connectivity.

You're right... so the El Al reason of "the Arabs won't let" isn't necessarily the only reason, that's all I'm saying.

That will be the day, when el al gets a functional frequent flier program. Their (85k) award rates aren't even so crazy for the route compared to other carriers (although they refuse to use a currency rate remotely similar to the rest of the planet), their system is just dysfunctional, and customer service is worse than dysfunctional.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Quote from article, Haaretz: Sources: American Airlines dropped Israel route to deepen ties with Arab carriers

That's what it says. But I don't believe it because it because the explanation doesn't make any sense. "Source in the aviation industry" could be someone with an axe to grind, like a US Airways employee in Tel Aviv or a competitor throwing mud.

Quote
American made the decision due to the OneWorld global alliance, whose members include Arab carriers like Qatar Airways and Royal Jordanian and the carrier of the Muslim-majority Asian country Malaysia, asserted the source.

RJ flies to TLV, AA is moving closer to non-alliance EY than QR nowadays, and MH has quite a bit on their plate higher priority than whether a OW partner flies PHL-TLV. Where's the so called pressure to drop TLV on BA, IB, AB, RJ? By the way, EY owns 30% of AB, and doesn't seem to care whether they fly to TLV.
