PSA: For anyone who had O or Q class on AA/US who thinks they "got lucky" and convinced AA to rebook them on El Al (even though they weren't supposed to), please check, double-check, and triple-check your tickets. Even if you see the LY flights on your reservation, it does not mean anything if it's not ticketed properly - for example, beware of the words "on request" on the AA site. I'm hearing reports from people who thought they were good to go because an AA rep rebooked them on LY, but it never got ticketed, and when they called back (weeks later), they were told "sorry, the reason we couldn't reissue your ticket is because O/Q class is not eligible for LY direct flights; you'll have to choose AA/IB flights instead." So MAKE SURE you have NEW 13-digit ticket numbers from AFTER changing your flights to LY.
Let me repeat this again: SEEING EL AL FLIGHTS ON YOUR ONLINE RESERVATION IS NOT ENOUGH. IF YOU DON'T HAVE NEW 13-DIGIT ETICKET NUMBERS FOR YOUR EL AL FLIGHTS, THEN IT IS ABSOLUTELY USELESS!!!! CALL BACK AND SWITCH TO ANOTHER (CONNECTING) FLIGHT OPTION, OR ELSE YOU WILL BE TOLD AT THE AIRPORT THAT YOU HAVE NO TICKET, AND CANNOT FLY!!!!
For best results, you can call El Al directly, and ask them if they can see your ticket number(s) on your El Al reservation. If yes, then you should be good to go.
(Dan, perhaps consider updating the main site post.)
