For starters:

Link to "Trick-it" thread on FT, Good Luck!

Booking: "Airline's own site is usually best. It just simply won't work there most of the time, hence the need for OTAs. And some of the smaller OTAs have employees doing manual checks of their tickets, so gotta be cautious there, too." (Moishebatchy)

See, this is precisely why booking FD's is NOT for the unwashed masses!!!

Here, let me make this nice and clear for you: when booking a FD, you CANNOT call the airline for ANY reason. You cannot call to add an infant, you cannot call to order kosher meals, you cannot call to request seats, you cannot even call to check if your flight is running on time!!!! No human eye (belonging to an airline employee) can ever see your ticket, period. If it cannot be done online, then you cannot do it at all. The risk is too great. Capische?

Oh, and as far as changes/cancellations are concerned... YOU CANNOT CANCEL A FUEL DUMP TICKET. EVER. Even if it's cancel-able online, because online cancellations are often manually reviewed by human auditors. You spent $450 on a cheap ticket to Israel and now your work schedule changed? That's too bad, you're gonna have to eat the $450 loss and let your ticket go into the garbage. If you try to cancel, your greed in saving $450 can trigger the cancellation of tens of thousands of dollars of other people's fuel-dumped tickets. Think I'm exaggerating? I've seen it happen with my own eyes.

NOW do you people understand what I mean by the "dark side of FD"?!

And NOW do you see why we don't like when the newbie, "gimme a cheap ticket to Israel!!!!" crowd gets a hold of these?! Let me tell you, when someone from that crowd gets a hold of these fares and books his family of 10 people for $4,500 total, and then they have to cancel the trip for some reason, I GUARANTEE you he will not resist the temptation to cancel and get his $4,500 back. He WILL cancel to get his money back, and he WILL get the dump killed for many other people. And THAT is a big part of why veterans don't like it when newbies get their hands on this stuff.

I'm gonna come forward on this one... it was me.

I had a chat with mesh (and a few other people) a few days ago, where I explained a few aspects of the dark side of fuel dumping - why it's very different than hidden city, why the DoT will not protect you (yes, I have firsthand knowledge of multiple cases of people who were denied boarding due to their fuel-dumped tickets getting flagged), and why a fuel dump getting exposed not only kills it going forward, but also kills it retroactively for all those who already booked.

It's not like a regular price mistake where Dan can eventually update the post with "Update: DEAD!!! Congratulations to all those who managed to book in time!" No, with most fuel dumps, the airline can still cancel your ticket if you haven't flown yet, even months after it was booked, and the DoT regulation will not apply. Even worse, if you've flown your outbound but not your return, they can strand you at your destination and deny boarding for your return flight unless you pay the missing YQ.

Think all of the above is hyperbole? I can honestly affirm that every single sentence I wrote is based on at least one horror story that I know of first-hand, in some cases more than one story.

So when mesh says that his opinion used to be one way, and now he changed his mind... I believe him. I was there when it happened. ;)
CMIIW, but that's an open invitation for everyone to PM you about FDs

Anyway, take this as a lesson to learn how to fish for yourselves. Then keep it to yourself.

There is so much to learn from this FD for other ones out there.

FDs should never be discussed in public. Period. Not here, not on any other publicly-accessible forum.

Y'know how there are certain topics that Dan only mentions at DD seminars and asks people not to talk about them, or post about them on DDF? So this is kind of like that, except even more secretive. This is not DDS material; this is material for the exclusive DDS afterparty. 8)

There are thousands of pages on multiple forums regarding FDs.  Deals aren't killed when it's discussed properly.  The issue here is the concentration of people interested in cheap tickets to TLV.

Is there a rule violation here?
I don't normally delete a thread unless a rule was violated or the OP requests it.
I don't think this thread should be deleted, but there are other reasons other then rule breaking for deleting posts/threads.
(Case in point: the great mint coin coverup where any discussion of a better option was quashed )

To sum up this thread, those who know about FDs (even if not necessarily this one) want this thread deleted. And those who don't know anything about them and want to learn (without much work, I may add) want this thread to stay open.
And those who didn't know details before were mad when it was temp removed before, while when they knew about it from insiders this time are mad its not deleted.
As the choivos halvavos says, the metzius of every human being is to be selfish. And I'm sure, that a good portion of people here, did not figure out the method of FD flights, by research, and reading FT, and Instead got it explained to them by others nice and easy.
Life is as good as you make it...

It's not that hard to figure out how FDs work by just reading that FT thread. Within all the gibberish and code there are useful hints. You just need to know how to sort though the garbage. I personally learned by reading thru that thread and the various blogs. Once I had the idea I was able to ask the experts in the field if my understanding was correct and where it needed tweaking.

I have to say I'm pretty impressed with @yuneeq. He seems to have known about this inyan and still feels fine with the posting. Very selfless of him (though I do admit if I knew about it I wouldn't act like him-I would be upset!).

Many travel hackers don't fly in the back of the bus so FD's are mostly irrelevant.

But could be a good Mileage run to maintain status for them also

But that goes in the milage run thread not the trick-it thread. So they are different (apparently).

I think it's not fair to publish a FD especially such a critical one, at very least the title should be changed, this wakes up too much attention, and I also think this should be moved to JS to weaken attention
