Link to "Trick-it" thread on FT, Good Luck!

Booking: "Airline's own site is usually best. It just simply won't work there most of the time, hence the need for OTAs. And some of the smaller OTAs have employees doing manual checks of their tickets, so gotta be cautious there, too." (Moishebatchy)

See, this is precisely why booking FD's is NOT for the unwashed masses!!!

Here, let me make this nice and clear for you: when booking a FD, you CANNOT call the airline for ANY reason. You cannot call to add an infant, you cannot call to order kosher meals, you cannot call to request seats, you cannot even call to check if your flight is running on time!!!! No human eye (belonging to an airline employee) can ever see your ticket, period. If it cannot be done online, then you cannot do it at all. The risk is too great. Capische?

Oh, and as far as changes/cancellations are concerned... YOU CANNOT CANCEL A FUEL DUMP TICKET. EVER. Even if it's cancel-able online, because online cancellations are often manually reviewed by human auditors. You spent $450 on a cheap ticket to Israel and now your work schedule changed? That's too bad, you're gonna have to eat the $450 loss and let your ticket go into the garbage. If you try to cancel, your greed in saving $450 can trigger the cancellation of tens of thousands of dollars of other people's fuel-dumped tickets. Think I'm exaggerating? I've seen it happen with my own eyes.

NOW do you people understand what I mean by the "dark side of FD"?!

And NOW do you see why we don't like when the newbie, "gimme a cheap ticket to Israel!!!!" crowd gets a hold of these?! Let me tell you, when someone from that crowd gets a hold of these fares and books his family of 10 people for $4,500 total, and then they have to cancel the trip for some reason, I GUARANTEE you he will not resist the temptation to cancel and get his $4,500 back. He WILL cancel to get his money back, and he WILL get the dump killed for many other people. And THAT is a big part of why veterans don't like it when newbies get their hands on this stuff.

I didn't know there was an option to include those emojis here.
Interesting. I just put in my emojis from my phone. Looks like it converted it to BBC emojis. Sometimes when I use smiley emojis from my phone, it comes up as the regular emoji here and sometimes I get the box []. This is the first time it's converted my emojis before.

@Moshebatchy, according to your logic, I'm assuming your against the whole FT thread on FD,  ?

Nope. That thread is populated by seasoned veterans who encode things very well; furthermore, any post that is too explicit is immediately edited (by the poster) or moderated (by the administration).

This thread, on the other hand... "soda container"?! Puh-leez.

I think it's not fair to publish a FD especially such a critical one, at very least the title should be changed, this wakes up too much attention, and I also think this should be moved to JS to weaken attention
Then people will lose some posts! Or delete or leave it here because it doesnt belong in JS

To sum up this thread, those who know about FDs (even if not necessarily this one) want this thread deleted. And those who don't know anything about them and want to learn (without much work, I may add) want this thread to stay open.

It's not a question of "knowing about FDs"; it's a question of whether the appropriate precautions are taken or not. Most people - especially the "wanna cheap ticket to Israel!!!!" crowd cannot even begin to fathom the fragility of a FD, how it is more delicate than glass. Especially such a good one - it's too good to be handled in a cavalier fashion.

And those who didn't know details before were mad when it was temp removed before, while when they knew about it from insiders this time are mad its not deleted.

As clearly explained before, the member in question "saw the light" once the dangers were properly explained to him, and therefore changed his stance.

CMIIW, but that's an open invitation for everyone to PM you about FDs

You are, indeed, wrong. I haven't received a single PM so far. :)

But before anyone gets any ideas, let me make this clear: PMs on this topic will be ignored. Repeated PMs will be reported to the admins as "unsolicited private messaging", which is a ban-worthy offense on DDF.

I choose my "students" very carefully. You don't get to learn anything by spamming me.

There are thousands of pages on multiple forums regarding FDs.  Deals aren't killed when it's discussed properly. The issue here is the concentration of people interested in cheap tickets to TLV.

DING DING DING!!!! We have a winner! Finally someone here with some sense...

So I guess since we are on the topic....When booking FD with a provider who does not calculate lap child fares and request me to call the airline direct after booking to price it out. Would calling airline to do this put the deal at risk? and if so, where can this be booked to include a lap child.

Seriously... How much more would be a full ticket vs. A lap infant

@Moishebatchy

Did you learn FD on your own,i'm assuming no, you went to some after party, and where let in, in that case everyone wants to start somewhere.

Actually, I did learn it on my own. I spent many hours reading the thread on FT, meeting other FDers and getting little bits and pieces of info, etc. until I finally started getting somewhere on my own. Only after I proved my worth - coming up with decent dumps on my own - did one of the "veterans" offer to speak to me on the phone and teach me some of the deeper stuff. He was the one who originally opened my eyes to the "dark side" of fuel dumping, which was a very sobering lesson for me.

You're right, everyone does want to start somewhere. And that place is at the bottom. Then you work your way up from there.

I have to say I'm pretty impressed with @yuneeq. He seems to have known about this inyan and still feels fine with the posting. Very selfless of him (though I do admit if I knew about it I wouldn't act like him-I would be upset!).

I fail to see which one of yuneeq's posts indicates that he is proficient in this matter in any way, shape or form. Please show me. Thanks.

Lap child should cost around $100+ to add vs paying $550 for seat.....

Agreed and hence why I was wondering if there were any other way to book infants without calling in. I have no intention to risk ruining it for other just for a couple $$.
