Unless you have some bizarre foot ailment where your podiatrist has to prescribe you special orthopedic shoes where they actually take a mold of your foot to make it, rachmana litzlan, then there is absolutely no practical reason why shoes should cost SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS (even though one poster thought it was cool to say that he knows "many people" who have $600 shoes and you seemed to be happy to be one of them.) It's poshut vanity and it's a shod af yiddishe gelt and it goes into the same category as champaign enemas and Yankees tickets.

He did take really good care of them.
Though I e found my pair for about $200, they are way more comfortable and longer lasting than other shoes I've bought.

Personally I buy shoes based on hiw long I'd think i'd like them for. The more time the more money I'd spend. Last year I went thru three pairs of shoes but spent less then $80 all together.

B. If your time was also worth $1,000,000/hour I sure hope you'd fly private too. It only makes economic sense.

I would argue that Buffett's value of money/frugality lead to him being rich.
I'm not surprised he continues to be frugal.

I would also add that it's not just frugality with Buffet... He probably doesn't feel the need to "strut his stuff" with flamboyant shoes like some sort of pimp. He knows his value and he's comfortable with that.
