Thread summary:

Trump walks in a room.

1. Moshe123 shoots at him because he is pure evil, 2. ilherman+hachover jump in front of the bullets because Trump is our savior. 3. aygart tackles Moshe123 because Trump is better than HRC, 4. but Baruch can't stand Trump so he tells aygart he's crazy and Trump is a madman. 5. ExGingi would like to point out that who cares what he is, all that matters is the supreme court nominations. 6. Dan and others aren't really sure how this makes them feel plus they don't really want to drink poison. 7. Spoiler alert: Moshe123's gun was empty, it was just a blank.

And Freddie is in the back of the room just cooking his cholent. Until he announces that there are TWO menu choices, Pareve Cholent or Vegetable Lasagna. While etech0 figured out that they are both poisoned.

Repeat x100.

And then Hilary walks into the room with the most confidence a candidate has had in recent history. She is so confident that she eats both the Pareve Cholent and Vegetable Lasagna. Everyone is the room is aghast, they don't know how this happened, could it be Comey is behind this poisoning or was it that her Obamacare premiums were to high to get her the help she needed.

Everyone stared as she choked and was cast into oblivion on November, 8, 2016 the last day she was heard from in the public eye.

Moshe123, ilherman, hachover, Baruch, ExGingi, Dan, Freddie, etech0, and the rest of America are in total shock and hope that so long as Trump doesn't eat any Pareve Cholent and Vegetable Lasagna and stays true to his supreme court nominees this may be the greatest thing to happen since the CSR and GC's.

But remember this may be the beginning of the end...

P.S. Thanks to cognitive dissonance aygart, Michael Moore, and Scott Adams knew the whole time that Trump could win, unfortunately for JTZ he may be off DDF for the next 4 years due to his mandatory 3 times daily consumption of CROW!

As things turns out, the most prescient view on this election was that of Michael Moore! Though Scott Adams is also claiming a high view level of prescience.

Donald Trump for president what do u think?

NY always goes for the Dem by more than NJ. Won't change.

Unlikely, but this is much closer than it has historically been. I think ny will at least be closer, but I doubt it'll be within 10 points honestly

Not only did I mean that, it is actually what I wrote.

My point is the Torah doesn't say to vote for anyone. You can ask your rabbi for advice if you want, assuming your rabbi is well versed in politics (most aren't), but don't think that in doing so you're following the Torah and more closely than someone who actually researches the candidates and issues on his or her own.

I thought she was temporally taking over.
She may be implicated in this scandal.

The Torah says ועשית ככל אשר יורוך even if your own research points you in a different direction.

I suspect that different communities might vote differently based on what their Rabbonim tell them.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I thought the normative approach is thats  limited to Sanhedrin, but to each his own.

Curious to hear your thoughts, though, if your rabbi tells you to vote for a candidate because they will definitely win and it's better that he sees the Jews have his back despite the fact that he is in favor of everything the Torah is not, do you still think you have a Torah obligation to vote for him?

So you went back to from before you were born.
More importantly, those elections were all landslides.

Reagan is recent enough to be invoked in politics. So I think it's fair to invoke the 1980 and 1984 elections to refute the statement that NY always goes D. While looking it up I found that it also happened to Nixon.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

And ny has much different demographics than it did then.

Trump has expressed distinct ignorance of the Constitution, and proposed numerous policies which go against it.

On all social issues he was firmly on the left prior to the campaign.

He lies more often than he tells the truth.

Trump incites racism and bigotry, which has unearthed awful anti semitism and brought it out into the open.

He is decidedly against religious freedom, unless that religion is going to get him elected. That's a scary prospect for me, as a Jew.

HRC will appoint left-leaning judges. True. But within the framework of the Constitution of the country.

No one knows what Trump will do, and if anything, the prospects look more terrifying than "could be ok."

BTW, I am horrified by HRC. I don't think the email scandal was overblown. And even without that she is an awful candidate.

I just feel almost any other candidates could have been better, yet the gop managed to nominate the one guy who makes her look like a safer option.

It's depressing.

completely agree on this point but I don't think hillary gives a cent about the constitution.

definitely not more than hillary especially in regards to Islamic extremism which is one of the few things that really matter

That's Pretty much an oxymoron

All in all I'm not a fan of trump but every Time i hear hillary talk my very fiber of my being shudders. I can't pin point it exactly but I cannot stand her at all. I don't think there's a drop of authenticity left in her. ...

I understand he could have run as a D but why was it easier to run as R? The primaries weren't easy with 16 opponents....
Easier for him to run against 16 then it is to run against 1 or 2.

You think he would have won if the Rs would have coalesced around 1 or 2 solid ones early on?

I guess the less candidates the more focus there is on each one so it is tougher but at the same time you have to knock all 16 & he Eventually was running against the strongest 5..4..3..2..1 anyways.

Knocking all 16 wasn't so tough, most of them knocked themselves out without any help from the Donald.
All that time that the anti-trump vote was split between Cruz and Rubio is what gave Trump the nomination...
