Topic Wiki

Thread summary:

Trump walks in a room.

1. Moshe123 shoots at him because he is pure evil, 2. ilherman+hachover jump in front of the bullets because Trump is our savior. 3. aygart tackles Moshe123 because Trump is better than HRC, 4. but Baruch can't stand Trump so he tells aygart he's crazy and Trump is a madman. 5. ExGingi would like to point out that who cares what he is, all that matters is the supreme court nominations. 6. Dan and others aren't really sure how this makes them feel plus they don't really want to drink poison. 7. Spoiler alert: Moshe123's gun was empty, it was just a blank.

And Freddie is in the back of the room just cooking his cholent. Until he announces that there are TWO menu choices, Pareve Cholent or Vegetable Lasagna. While etech0 figured out that they are both poisoned.

Repeat x100.

And then Hilary walks into the room with the most confidence a candidate has had in recent history. She is so confident that she eats both the Pareve Cholent and Vegetable Lasagna. Everyone is the room is aghast, they don't know how this happened, could it be Comey is behind this poisoning or was it that her Obamacare premiums were to high to get her the help she needed.

Everyone stared as she choked and was cast into oblivion on November, 8, 2016 the last day she was heard from in the public eye.

Moshe123, ilherman, hachover, Baruch, ExGingi, Dan, Freddie, etech0, and the rest of America are in total shock and hope that so long as Trump doesn't eat any Pareve Cholent and Vegetable Lasagna and stays true to his supreme court nominees this may be the greatest thing to happen since the CSR and GC's.

But remember this may be the beginning of the end...

P.S. Thanks to cognitive dissonance aygart, Michael Moore, and Scott Adams knew the whole time that Trump could win, unfortunately for JTZ he may be off DDF for the next 4 years due to his mandatory 3 times daily consumption of CROW!

As things turns out, the most prescient view on this election was that of Michael Moore! Though Scott Adams is also claiming a high view level of prescience.

They're both terrible human beings, don't see how to differentiate.
And the other option is the hate Israel party. I'm sick to my stomach.

I think Baruch is on to something.  I remember,  during the whole Monica Lewinsky thing,  my RY gave a very uncharacteristic shmuess.  The basic thrust was that the president is someone who is to lead,  be looked up to,  be respected,  and to some degree emulated by the masses.  (and here we add the 'we have our own time models' disclaimer).
Now one can argue that this argument applies to both candidates equally,  and they are both severely lacking.  I grant you that. But HRC requires some sophistication to see her lack of worthiness as a rule model.  Whereas one would be hard pressed to find any reason to respect someone who resorts to third grade playground nicknames like Lying Ted when he can't get along with someone.

The answer should be who scares you most?
Trump is definitely capable of shaking up an already unstable world, while hrc will try to maintain the status quo by doing and saying as little as possible. (Not even mentioning Islamists etc) - both are kinda terrifiying options imho RCL

The name Lyin Ted was most definitely a tactical choice by Trump and not simply playground names. There are other things he has said or done which would be a greater concern than that.

we can look at both cabinets. There is a big difference in the overall competence and the pro-Israel theme in one of them. That makes a better choice.

How exactly can you look at their cabinets with no realistic way of knowing who will be in either of their cabinets?

we will have a better idea in the coming weeks -- however just by looking at who they like to surround themselves with: Trump with pro-Israel Kushner (and possible Palin and Trey for cabinet:
http://www.headlinepolitics.com/trump-just-announced-possible-cabinet-members-will-make-liberals-cringe/) versus Hillary with Wasserman-Schultz who backed the Iran deal and recently worked incompetently to chair the DNC and therefore was fired, along with Sidney Blumenthan and long-time Clinton Aide, anti-Israel Huma Abedin, then we get a sense of where they are heading and where their priorities, direction, and concern for Israel's safety are.

Seriously?   :o :o :o :o :o

Please go troll elsewhere.

Not trolling! I live in Israel and hear this frequently (that Obama is bad for Israel) and this seemed like a good place to ask for an explanation since it seems that even potential HRC voters here believe that dems/Obama are "bad for Israel".

Not our fault your candidate is proudly paying out millions to shills to post on forums.

I really can't understand how someone who has put the country in danger and is extreme careless in everything including emails Benghazi etc. is allowed to run ? i mean who knows what the next scandal will be, besides of the point that she has zero power as you look at the record , vs trump it's correct that he can't control his language but id doesn't mean that he will shake up the world how they call it, he is a smart and brilliant man and all of his close people that are around him will tell about his good heart and willing to help people and he is really the guy that will get things done as he has proven that last 40 years.

She did vote for Iran,  but has one of the strongest pro Israel records in the Democratic party.

That is definitely not the consensus. The big issue I see is that many people will see a disconnect between how they see the direction the country is headed and how POTUS described it. I think he did okay but could have been much better at making the Hillary case.

It was positively Regeanesque

He made the case for Democracy over Authoritarianism succinctly. It was far more Conservative a speech than anything in Cleveland.

An interesting thing I noticed looking at RCP polls is that Trump's bump did not take anything away from Hillary and comes entirely from undecideds.

I thought this was one of Obama's better speeches. Apart from the disjunction with reality.

@jamestaranto You can see the lines between his speech 12 years ago and this one, but then his actions in between make no sense.

Really amazing how much of Obama's speech is an implicit condemnation of the current president''s governing philosophy.
