You're making a false equivalency. No one has come close to this group. Also, the media is supposed to be the check against those lies, and they're fulfilling that role here too. The difference is that Trump has sought to nullify that check by seeking to invalidate all media that's critical of him.

When they have disregard for the truth themselves then how can they fulfill that role. Who is fact checking the fact opinion checkers? When their standards for checking are not the same for him as they were for Obama then they have no credibility.

Am I understanding you correctly that what the president says don't carry more weight than an individual reporter?

If I want the news, in theory I would trust a random journalist over any politician.
Unfortunately many journalists have hidden or not-so-hidden agendas. So we are left with the choice of sifting out fake news reporters or believing politicians. The only option (if you seek the truth) is to read credible reporters or reports that include proof.

No I think they are willfully ignorant. When the shoddy reporting like Atkinson is pointing out about the wall and is being routinely reported incorrectly by just about everyone goes without consequence it is bound to reach worse levels too. This is more than just the tone of their reporting. The reaction by many in the media to Fire and Fury was "well it could have been true". It could have been true is what differentiates fiction from fantasy.

That is another issue. The first thing is did he or didn't he say SH. If he didn't say it as he claims context is not an issue since it was never said. So we have a classic example of the press vs the president on what was said. He comes out on the short end of these almost every time.

You want to talk about context. I am talking about who is correct about him saying SH. The president or press? Whenever we have this constant he said the press said the president is not believed almost all the time for good reason.

The press screws up a lot and get calls out and is honest enough to correct the mistake. The president gets caught and doubles down. This is why the world view of the US is going down the tubes under this president.
