The intended goal is, of course, to insulate Trump against any charges or recommendations that ultimately come from Mueller’s team. Eventually, Trump hopes, his supporters will dismiss or at least discount any allegations of ties between Russia and his campaign as partisan. That would likely be all it would take to protect him from impeachment and removal from office, which would require two-thirds of the Senate and therefore lots of Republican votes.

Of course, even though investigation was warranted, the way the Dems (and especially Alan Schiff) have been trying to use Russia to delegitimize the Trump presidency has politicized it from the outset. Once they did this that undermined any possibility of a non-partisan investigation.

Apprently the study quoted by Sessions has a significant flaw. Included as illegals were deportable immigrants which were in the country legally but deportable for things they did after legalization.

Of course but it would not make the point they were trying to make from it. For the study itself I guess may have been fine but not their application of it.

Hopefully they feel otherwise by now. Comey has shown himself to be just as petty as trump thought. The idea that he was ever in a position of power is about as crazy as dems think it is that trump is president

It seems that it included those. Either way clanking down on illegal immigration wouldn't make a difference for any who were at one point legal.
