Honestly, at the time I only viewed it as a blip and was pouring money into the market. I don't think much was needed if anything at all to turn it around and invested accordingly at the time.

I don't think it was as bad as it was made out to be. I think Obama, like Bush before him, talked down the economy to get elected. As I said, I put my money on that opinion very aggressively.

You seem to be having issues understanding things here. You asked if it was magic and I answered that it was TARP (you can make your own decision whether or not to call that magic). Just because it was not the answer you wanted and doesn't fit with the point you are trying to make doesn't mean that it is a deflection.

BTW, another large factor was fracking which created an energy boom despite Obama and brought energy prices down to a fraction of what they were despite everything they did to stop it. They would be even lower if not for various state policies which keep other aspects of energy pricing high. This also did more for the environment by making coal nonviable than any regulation ever did.

I don't have a horse in this particular race, but of course there's a flip side of that too - the business owner arrogantly thinking his specific limited business experience makes him an expert on the economy. [Or in Trump's case, an expert on everything.]
