FOX reports Lisa Murkowski backs Flake's idea. The best of both worlds. If K gets put on the court it will be without this hanging over his head. I understand that only matters to fair minded individuals and not those who can't check their politics at the door!!!

Sure, maybe he didn't sexually assault anyone, but I believe he certainly perjured himself to keep his golden-boy portrayal intact.

They are not going to investigate in the criminal sense. There is no way to prove he perjured himself and even if he did it is the Senate who would have to follow through with charges etc. The FBI's sole role here is to do a background investigation. The Senate's sole job here is to approve the appointment by the president, i.e.the President appoints Justices with the "Advice and Consent"of the Senate. People are really not getting what everyones role is here. There is no criminal investigation by the FBI.

I understand that but don't talk for others. I know what the "I" stands for. He made a lot of claims. If they produce information that says otherwise he is toast. Toast as in his nomination not that he will be charged with perjury.

Lets play this out. Kavanaugh nomination gets pulled. Barrett gets nominated. Dems flip Senate in November effectively making Barrett nomination go away and maybe Garland gets his nomination as the safe reconciliation candidate. If they dont flip the Senate in November they end up with Barrett which is way worse for the Dems and may well lead to a total gut job of the Dem agenda (Roe etc.). This is a very dangerous game of chicken they are playing.

Save Barrett to replace Ginsburg.

Garland would be an improvement there too.

That the political side the Dems are playing. They are playing the whole time. The only reason they had this held to after the hearings was for this purpose. The are really banking on a blue wave in November. I just dont see it in the Senate which is the only thing that matters here. Hell hath no fury if they torpedo K and the Republicans clean up in November.
