Someone who wants to represent Klal Yisrael in that capacity MUST have the ability to clearly articulate his positions and interact with the political class in a refined way. He must be able to accurately take into account the context, the nature of the person being questioned, the various associations a word or phrase may mistakenly convey, and numerous other calculations. Let this be a hard lesson learned. This is not a game or a way to drum up a little sensation for a magazine. It is in fact a dangerous game to play at the expense of world Jewry. The fact that the question was clearly misunderstood is not an excuse it is a part of the problem.

I'm not defending Trump but this issue is clearly a sensitive and personal one for him. We are still in Galus and why pull the lion's ears..He should have never posed a question on this issue, certainly not in such a testy forum and when it will be your only question..We don't play by the same rules that the secular world does and he had/has a responsibility to the entire frum world wether he likes it or not..Sad result of Yidden trying to portray themselves as a "serious player" in the secular media scene...

I don't know JT's intentions were but it seemed like he gave DJT a very soft question which was an opportunity for him to set the record straight and say something decisive about closely monitoring reports etc which would have been good PR and cost him nothing.

He may have had the noblest of intentions, but he should have know he's dealing with a short circuit on a personal and sensitive issue. Given the highly sensitive position he has placed himself in he can leave no room for error.  The stakes are just too high. Don't gamble your community's interests for your personal, attention-getting agenda.

We didn't nominate him to be our national ambassador, but unfortunately he's in that position anyway.
