How would Gorsuch be affected by any of that? The argument from the D side against Gorsuch is that he's too conservative and that the R's stole the seat by refusing to hold confirmation hearings on Garland. None of that actually matters though, because the R's have a majority in the Senate. And even if the D's filibuster, they'd need nearly every D senator to go along with it to resist a supermajority of 60.

I'm baffled at Sen. Durban's making a big deal about the word “merely,“ incorrectly stating that it reduces the standard, and equally baffled that Gorsuch didn't correct his error.

If he makes any mistakes, or says anything stupid, it would cost the Democrats less politically to oppose him, which makes it more likely that the filibuster rule (which still requires 60 votes for a supreme Court Justice) will need to be changed.

That is water under the bridge. He is done with his testimony and did not give them any ammo.

I guess that would depend on the makeup of the district. If they are from CA I would say they are safe.

It depends if there vote has any ramification at all. If there is a filibuster requiring the Rs to nuke there likely will be a price for some but

If it ends up being a symbolic no without needing to get past a filibuster then those who may switch probably won't even notice what they voted.
