That is sometime more of a measure of success (or failure) than intent. Also, if the only difference is how far it went we need to measure if all protesters would have gone that far or if it is only one who went overboard from the "regular reasonable" beatings.

I will dispense for now from discussion of the moral character of the president's Charlottesville statements. Whether he intended to or not, what he communicated caused racists to rejoice, minorities to weep, and the vast heart of America to mourn. His apologists strain to explain that he didn't mean what we heard. But what we heard is now the reality, and unless it is addressed by the president as such, with unprecedented candor and strength, there may commence an unraveling of our national fabric.

80% on both sides were armed, and not a shot fired. You are going to blame the entire side for that one guy's murder? Like, as if they were all in on it?

To be clear, I don't agree with everything in the post. But please, he has spoken out plenty when he wasn't running for anything. Romney is a man of class and integrity if nothing else - at least as much as is possible in a politician. Not everything is posturing.

An aside, much of the garbage going on now can be placed at the feet of the left and media (redundant, I know) for how they treated Romney during his campaign.

I don't know about "80% on both sides were armed" but lets go with that. It is meaningless unless we know the intent and make up of both sides.

The left majority is rejoicing far more than any minorities are mourning. I'm as mad at Trump over this as anyone on this thread. I'm not mourning. I'm also fully aware that the left is as much antisemitic - or more - as the right. You're picking out phrases from verbose political rhetoric while ignoring the main point. The president equivocated in his condemnation of Nazis.
