How is she NOT anti-American?

AFAIK there is no rule/law/protocol that states you are anti-American if you don't stand. Please enlighten me if there is.

I don't think even Trump is stupid enough to try and label this girl as anti-American. IMHO a draft dodger is about as anti-American as it gets.

ETA: Just so there is no misunderstanding here is the pledge. So you want a 11 year old girl to take a pledge when she believes the pledge is not being lived up to by our country?

Does she fully understand the pledge of allegiance, or the meani0ng of what she's doing? Unlikely. I'm not saying she's an evil person, just that her action is anti-american. I'd say for an 11-year old girl to do something like that, she has to live in a culture where that has become cool and normal.

i don't believe that she is anti American. I don't believe she even fully understands what she is doing. How can she, she's 11. The real issue in this story is the adults. An educator that publicly humiliates a child should not be educating them. And the parents should probably have spoken with her about how to appropriately express your opinion.

So let me spell it out for them. Trump was a coward who used ways to avoid serving our country. AKA: draft dodger.
IMHO this is why he supports our military to try and hide that fact.

possibly, but I doubt it. The fact that she is now quoting supreme court decisions that protect her right to do what she did makes me think that her parents (I am assuming that an 11 yr old does not know 50 year old supreme court decisions) are fully behind her protest.
I am not saying that she doesnt have the right to do what she did, she obviously does, I just think it could have been done better.

Either way, the main fault is with the teacher in this story.

The president wanting the AG to violate the constitution is something we shouldn't react to. Him calling women "dogs" is something we shouldn't react to. Maybe if more would react to this despicable behavior we can get rid of this idiot. Hasn't history taught us anything about leaving this behavior unchecked?

Ah...you think she wanted to kneel when everyone else was standing, and then recite the pledge of allegiance with everyone else?

I admit to not being much of a sports fan, but my understanding of the concept of "taking a knee" is a refusal to show respect for this country because of it's perceived faults. Doing the same during a pledge of allegiance would presumably include not saying said pledge.
