During the Clinton special counsel was there issues like these clouding over the actual investigation? That would give Clinton political ammunition or grievances that the special counsel was biased?

It was no difference with the smear campaign against the SC.

That is what is called being backed up with facts instead of bias.

Here is a question for everyone. If after say two years the SC issues a report that says there was no links or cooperation between the Russian government and the Trump campaign. Was the SC a success and did their job? Simple yes or no answer.

I don't think it is a simple yes or no answer but it definitely could have been successful and find nothing.

Could it happen that they find nothing and the whole thing was a waste of everyone's time and energy and really was a witch hunt? Do you see that as being a possibility?

There is not one shred of evidence that this is a witch hunt. Anything is possible including some here will beat their wife today.
