I managed to get it dismissed. I wrote that if this is a problem they should be putting a warning on the receipts not to cover VIN. I also stated that VIN was on registration sticker and the license plate number matched. And lastly that the receipts are so flimsy that they move and slip from where I put them when I close the car door.

I don't know which argument won.

Respondent testifies that there was a valid muni meter receipt displayed and submits a receipt. This is not a persuasive defense. The submitted receipt
was purchased in a commercial muni meter zone in Manhattan on West 40th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues in Manhattan. This summons was issued to a passenger plated vehicle in a non-commercial muni meter zone on 52nd Street between New Utrecht Avenue and 13th Avenue in Brooklyn. It is not persuasive that the operator of this vehicle would have parked this passenger plated vehicle in a commercial muni meter zone and paid the extra money for two hours of parking at the commercial rate and Respondent gives no explanation at all as to this fact. Therefore, it is not persuasive that this receipt was displayed at the summons location by the operator of the vehicle.

They give you problems when using from a far distance.
