fixing credit

i a'm applying for a mortgage my score is 690 need to boost it up a little any advice? I have 2 late payments on my report any idea how do get them removed? My average age of credit is also very low, would it help if i add myself on as an additional to someone that has an older account?

Adding yourself as an AU to clean old accounts does help. Search for "goodwill letter" to try and get your late payments removed. The best place for advice on this is creditboards.com

Have a VERY small balance on each credit card when the statement closes.  That means making sure that the 'current balance' is less than 1% (or even less than .1%) of your available credit. 
a) Before the due date,  pay off even things that are not due yet.  b) Best to leave over a few dollars that you spent that month - to be billed on the statement.


If you haven't been doing this already, it will boost your credit score.
