Can I just point out the irony of an anonymous troll telling someone posting under a real name they should be careful as they wouldn't speak like that in real life?

I would be remiss if I did not thank Smisek for the good he has done for me personally.

When checking into a random hotel in the Midwest a few weeks ago and giving my MP to get the miles accredited there, the hotel employee told me he was laid off by United. "So you're one of Jeff's casualties?" I asked. He launched into a 5 minute  tirade detailing why he felt that Smisek was a criminal who deserves to be locked up, and how many people's lives were destroyed by his policies and the layoffs he oversaw.

I struggle to make small talk usually. And this one time, Smisek made it easy for me, even without knowing much about the the ins and outs of the airline industry.
 
So, thank you Jeff. And thank you AJ. I don't have a story about AJ to share, but maybe I'll be stuck at an awkward DO one day, and I'll be able to say, "remember AJ?"

As a traveler, I'm not a fan of Smisek. I live 10 minutes from EWR but don't fly United. I view him as the same villain that you do. As an investor, I wouldn't have invested in Smisek, but I don't view him as a villain. UA hasn't done too well compared to its competition since Smisek took over. However, domestic airlines have been trending to put lower values on FFPs. I believe most of the decisions he made mentioned in your post were made in the company's best interests.

I'm no expert in these things but I just don't seems to understand your argument. What exactly in Dan's post did he do for the companies best interests? Having elites paying fees? Making a useful site awful? I personally had a couple 1K members asking me today if there is anyway they can access the old site. How is it in the companies interest to design a site that looks more like a CC application when you wanna book a simple flight? Even CC apps ae less nauseating... Oh, maybe bribing officials? Or perhaps since he imposed the April 15 rules?

While your point may be valid. You can't argue that the level of conversation /information outside JS has gone down drastically.  And while not entirely his fault, he isn't blameless. Ddf was going down the tubes,  so I don't blame the admin for taking initiative.
Plus, noone is stopping him from undergoing a HM/CV/Meshug conversion. For all we know Joey is still here...
