I noticed this a month ago w/ Christmas. 75k OW from MIA to NYC. I called an agent to ask what was up, and the agent responded, "some peak dates have different redemption requirements"

Yup. I was just surprised at how expensive it was. Was it always ~75k OW in Y domestic? (EDIT: I'm seeing online that it was 50k a year ago).

"AAnytime award levels vary by date and region. There are select dates that require a higher number of miles (in addition to Level 1 and 2 awards). When you search for awards while booking, you’ll see the applicable award level."

Funny, I got a coach 1 way AAnytime the day before Christmas (and not the nightime flight but 12pm one) from JFK-CUN for 27.5K, which I thought was a great deal for that day. Plus with those you get to pick the better seats with no status, so I got an exit row. But I saw some other days that had very high redemptions.
