I cant remember where I read it, but I've been reading/hearing that people want/been able to use the situation in Israel as a reason to cancel flights. I just got off the phone with cheapOair. The (seemingly clueless) rep advised I pay for their insurance. I called the insurance company and they told me it wouldn't be covered(figured).
Has anyone had success with using the current situation in Israel has a reason to cancel and get a refund?

Also,this is from cheapoair's website:
Is there coverage for a terrorist incident?
Yes, the insurance plan includes coverage for a Terrorist Act occurring in your departure city or a city in your scheduled destination within 30 days of scheduled arrival. Please refer to the Description of Coverage for more details.

What constitutes a terrorist attack? unfortunately, they are practically occurring daily.

I would assume that if you would find a actual claim (vs just asking) it would be approved

Did you tell them that you were asking about the terror situation in Israel?

Yes. I explained how nervous my wife was. Every rep from every company had little to zero idea of whats going on there. Pretty crazy.

Did you refer them to a specific incident in Tel Aviv (say, the terrorist attack in the bar on Dizengoff this past Friday night)?

I did. My tickets are for early March. They told me it has to be within 30 days.

Did you buy the insurance? Did you try to cancel the trip based on that?

Ok, that's a fair enough answer.  Let's hope you aren't able to cancel.

Anyway why would someone sell you an insurance policy that covers what amounts to the current situation in Israel, especially when you bought the tickets while that was the situation? Sounds like selling someone an insurance policy on a car that is halfway down a cliff.

Did I at some point say it won't work? I was simply looking for any success stories and advice. I obviously plan on making another attempt at it within 30 days of my trip. I called and asked on the forum to get a feel for how their policies work.

For all they know i haven't booked any flights yet, and I'm inquiring about their insurance policy.
