Mistake fares always make someone happy. 

Either they're honored and the people who booked are happy. Or they are not honored and the people who missed out are happy.

makes me feel pretty dumb for not buying direct from air canada.  I feel like we have a better case against the airline than an intermediary

If it's honored, I'd just add as a lap infant later,for 10% of adult fare.  I don't know if you can actually add it later, or what the 10% would be based on, but even if it's 10% of 1500 bucks, it's still only 150.  And I'd guess (with no basis) that chances are good at getting a CSR to add a later-born baby.

When I looked aircanada.com was slightly more expensive than cheapoair. Probably YMMV.

I missed that promo code, but Cheapoair actually automatically applied a discount of $34 for me
