What's the best way to get from CAI to the pyramids?

We hired a taxi for very cheap for the day... He brought us to the pyramids and even stayed until we got back.... We chose to go by horse...

How long did it take from the time you left Cairo until you came back?

The pyramids are right outside of Cairo... It's a very short ride depending on traffic to reach the desert (maybe a half hour).

Once you get to the desert, you can choose to either go in by Horse or Camel.

I would say that horse is probably the faster of the two options.

(Side note: there are tonz of peddlars that are gonna try to get you to hold onto there little souvineers and then after u have them, make u pay.)

I don't recall exactly how long the whole ordeal was exactly, but i would have to guess around 4 hours from the time we got there until we left, it can really vary depending on what you choose to do and how long you stop to take pictures etc.

I'm pretty jealous I'm not in Israel right now....(i went to Jordan 2 years ago motzei yom Kippur. Missing the good days)

Has anyone been to CAI between May 15, 2015 and now? Did they give you a visa upon arrival in the airport (every website I look at says something different)?

When I went MANY years ago we had to get visas ahead of time at the Egyptian Embassy in Tel Aviv, although at that time we also took a bus from TA to Cairo thru Gaza to the border so my info is just a tad out of date! 😜

i was there after may 15 and got a visa at the airport
