expired passport to canada. important!

Currently (american citizen) driving to canada, and noticed my USA passport expired 5 weeks ago. All I have is a drivers license. Should I turn back?   
What are the odds of me getting in?

No worries at all. You will be perfectly fine!

Canada does NOT require a passport to enter. It's the USA that requires a passport, so you can usually not go to Canada because you risk not being able to come back home, but the USA will accept your expired passport upon returning,  so you will be GOOD.

As far as I know, a driver's license isn't enough, though a driver's license AND birth certificate would be. Getting back into US would be more of an issue. Do you have a Nexus/Global Entry card? Because that could be enough.

One hour into trip... No nexus ect... Can get copy of birth cert emailed to ma and print it out.

As you can see, for Canada a "BIRTH CERTIFICATE" alone is enough. An expired passport surely beats a birth certificate with no photo.

No place to really shuffle around over there. If you get shot down, likely a no-go for you.

I agree the agent CAN make a difference... and ya definitely get a copy of the birth certificate.

Crazy story:

I once went though the border to Canada on my baby sons passport...
I handed the agent (1) my son's birth certificate, (2) my sons passport, and (3) my wife's passport.
The agent definitely wasn't paying attention, and let me go through.

Try giving them the expired passport they may not notice it. I've gotten through without giving a passport...YMMV. Good luck.

Iv looked in to it allot. They shouldn't give u a prob but if they have reason to not let u in they will do faster without anything (so they officially don't need to let u in but they shouldn't give probs...) as of for getting back in to America if u have proof of citizen they can't NOT  let u in but they could give u problems. But at the end u will be let in

If I remember correctly if u get denied to one they will all give problems
