I know at least 2 or 3 other big posters, just don't know if they want to out themselves... I'm sure out of some 12,000 members there are a lot more. Statistically speaking ;)

Did anyone get into the field with just a yeshiva degree?
I went to a regular college, but there was someone at the company where I interned who got an entry level job with a BMG degree + a few exams.

What's starting salary for an actuary?

I was once in touch with someone who did that but he got hired at least 5 years ago, maybe more. I would be nervous to do that because the market for EL is getting more and more competitive.

Curious to hear other opinions.

24,300/300,000,000 times 12,000 = about one .

I guess the 12,000 sample size is of higher intelligence  :)

So starting is ~$55-60? How quickly does it get to $100? 5 years?

1. The 24k figure is credentialed actuaries. Many of the posters here are still taking exams.

2. Frum Jews are disproportionately actuaries for various reasons.

Very hard to get EL job w no college degree. Good college isn't required, but get a legitimate BA/BS.

Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Perhaps, but I also think a higher proportion of frum Jews choose to pursue the career as opposed to other careers that require similar levels of intelligence.

The possibility of doing it without years of college is enticing for some. And the relatively easy hours and flexible schedule required in proportion to the base compensation is pretty decent.
