Yes, they can. That's specially why I said "little" step closer...
It does make it that bit harder to get hold of a weapon and it creates a little more of a security presence, which can very often be a deterrent.
Besides that, the reason for installation can very well be to apprehend Arabs who carry knives on them on a regular basis...

Most places, yes. Having served in the army usually makes it easier.

Most ultra orthodox don't serve in the army mainly for religious reasons... Really need a new thread to discuss fully save it for tomorrow
