Thanks for clearing that up but this situation is a little different. I heard a reported say he pulled a knife at the checkpoint and ran. The video does not support that. How does he grab the railing with the same hand he had the knife in? What did he pull out of his back pocket half way down the stairs. I can't tell if there are people at the bottom of the stairs. If there were and at that point you could clearly see the knife shooting him was the right decision.
It's a shaky 5 second video, from an angle that's not very revealing - what did you expect to see? It doesn't do much to prove or disprove any narrative.
For what it's worth, it seems to me a lot more likely that he did in fact grab the railing with the knife in his hand (not that hard to do - plus both the railing and knife were black, which is why it would be hard to see) than what you appear to be suggesting (which is, CMIIW, that he pulled the knife out of his back pocket halfway down the stairs). The reason I say that is because the knife appears to be open in his hand toward the end of the stairs, which would mean he had to have been running with it open in his pocket. It actually looked more like he was trying to keep his pants up than pulling something out of his back pocket.
