UA: TLV-SFO

Ynet news is reporting that from April 1st 2016 (hope not an early April fools joke) it'll fly 3 times a week TLV-SFO with a 787!

Ynet news also reported this a few years ago.

Let's hope this actually happens.

Presumably, award travel will be more open than usual on these flights, for at least the first few weeks (?days, or maybe hours?) that the schedule is open.  I wonder if I could route BOS-SFO-TLV-SFO-BOS in J with Mileage Plus miles? Would that be allowed?

(Yes, there is more travel time than BOS-EWR-TLV-EWR-BOS, but I'm speculating that there might be J award availability via SFO, but not via EWR.)

Don't get your hopes up too high for award seats. Most likely won't be any different than the EWR-TLV flights.

Will they fly West or East with this route?

What makes you say that?
And if it is more open, would getting cle-sfo-tlv be any different based on whether flight flies east or west?

Woohoo! Another way to get from LAX to TLV that's a lot more direct. Sure beats stopping on the east coast or in Europe. Now let's hope UA releases a nice amount of J saver seats.

Better hope that they don't if you want the route to stick around...

I kind of meant initially, not always. I also wonder if Plan B would be easier or more difficult on this route?

Wow, brutally expensive intro pricing.
Gotta assume it will come down over time though.

Award space isn't loaded that soon on new routes. Takes time to judge demand.

Ex TLV seems to be cheaper with K class pricing. Lets hope they just didn't get a chance to put a price tag on K class ex US...

Dear Petitioner,

Now that we've got our nonstop flight SFO-TLV, United needs our help finding HEBREW speaking flight attendants, to operate this flight.

I personally think it's a great opportunity for people who want to visit Israel frequently on a relatively flexible schedule.  Another amazing perk United is giving its employees is free airline tickets to family members, when seats are available on a stand-by basis!!

Please see United's official page here: http://united-flightattendants.jobs/

Feel free to contact  Scott or Amy at scott.evers@united.com and amy.Leonhardt@united.com with any questions.

Yours,
Oren Dobronsky
