Radiation? :) From what exactly lol?

You actually get more radiation from flying JFK-LAX than from a full mouth series of dental x-rays (18 x-rays). They are both minimal though. You are higher up so less atmosphere to filter out the sun's rays.

there are radiation issues, but as long as you dont fly heavily, it should be alright

IMHO there is good natural radiation -from the sun, from granite etc., and bad radiation from dentists etc.

So there's no comparison.

I may have read this somewhere once, but I'm leaving this as an opinion only. Giyf.

Doesn't the plane insulate from most of it?

ETA I would be more concerned with the body scan from security

Whered you get that from? Your getting rusty, time to go back through your D2 Radio PPTs  ;)

FMX = 0.150 mSv (A coast to coast flight is about half that)

Not really, though being exposed to the rays through the windows is worse...pilots and the rest if the flight crew are officially considered "radiation workers".

K but it wasn't personal!

http://entertainment.omgfacts.com/nerd/15174/Grand-Central-Station-produces-more-radiation-than-is-allowed-at-a-nuclear-power-plant

  No offence taken :D

But you have to be careful with what you spread. I have patients turn down medically necessary x-rays because they are scared of radiation but will then spend their summers at the beach without putting on sunblock. Radiation is radiation. A gamma ray or x-ray doesn’t care what its source is.

My Sister wants to come from Israel to the US for a wedding in her 8th month. Most Israeli insurance companies she reached out to won’t insure her. She can try to get American insurance but I’m assuming that won’t cover the actual flight.
Questions are:
1. Anyone know of an insurance provider that would cover the trip?
2. Do airlines require proof of insurance to travel?
3. If not insured, is the passenger responsible for costs associated with an emergency landing, if needed?
