Discover is offering card members and account holders $300 to open a free checking account with them. Use offer code Bonus4915. Just complete two direct deposits of $250 or more. This seemed like a nice bonus, with easy requirements and a totally free account, with no monthly fees, which can be a pita.

i called the number to confirm no hidden fees or maintenance fees, etc. CSR confirmed that the account can be closed at any time without any fees.

You must already have a relationship with discover to open a checking account. If you don't have a card, the easiest way to do this is to open a savings account. You're instantly eligible for the checking once you do so. See OP how to make an additional $100 doing this.
