Hi,

"Newbie alert"

I've recently gotten married and am looking into starting my own business. It seems like everyone is doing it and has just figured it out, but I can't seem to get a grip on what to do and how to do it. This makes me wonder what everyone is doing and how they started and figured it out. Am I just stupid?

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

That's a helpful answer.  :-[

And to answer your attack, I was a true yeshiva boy. I never tried to learn any of the basics - believing that it's not worthwhile to before marriage.

Currently I'm trying to find anything that will pay the bills, but can grow over time. I would want to grow an online business.

Do you have a service or product that is unique? Otherwise you are selling.... Which means it does not matter what you are selling... If you are good at selling,  you will be fine.

If not,  go get a job or go to college

Selling on Amazon, everyone seems to do it but I draw a blank about how to start/what to sell.

College doesn't pay the bills.

Read thru the entire selling on amazon thread there is tons of useful information on there... I know it's a very long thread and can get repetitive but it is probably worth your time. If you still have questions then I'm sure ppl will be willing to help you.

Start with whatever you can get on sale etc. Once you're more comfortable with the process, you can try branching out.

You can learn a trade so that you can make an honest living.

You can be a tailor, shoemaker, HVAC repairman, web programmer, app developer, nurse,   mechanic, accountant, cook etc.

Also see the basement business thread for some awesome ideas.

This seems to be the answer for everyone trying to make a living these days.

I don't sell myself, but from what I hear it is extremely competitive, very long hours and is not for the faint of heart.

Please cmiiw.

Seems you misunderstood me. I am not saying that college doesn't give a stable job (which is debatable). I'm saying that while in college, there's no money to pay the bills.

Do you have a different idea?

You can get a pt job while in college to pay the bills.

You can also "churn-baby-churn" your way through. See the CC board for more info on this.

The last mishna in Kdushin says;
ויתפלל למי שהעשר והנכסים שלו
שאין אמנות שאין בה עניות ועשירות
שלא עניות מן האמנות ולא עשירות מן האמנות
אלא הכל לפי זכותו

So what you need to do is think of a line which you would enjoy and would fit you (that's what the חובת הלבבות writes) and try your best and hope to hashem for the best!

Much of hatzlucha in whatever you'll do!

I was also going to say that, but sometimes some people get annoyed by those comments...
