I know this is a little OT but I'm curious if anyone has used points to pay for hotel rooms for a Simcha? That would be pretty cool!

I'm planning ahead to do just this thing for my son's Bar Mitzvah.  The hotel won't care how many rooms you book for a night as long as there is standard availability.

It's just limited to how ever many of their "standard" room that they have opened to be booked.  As long as those are available they don't capacity control whether they can be booked with points.

Update:

I have the Chase Sapphire now and use it as my main card. Thanks for the tip on the 60K promo with 5K add a second user. However, for the Hilton spend coming, I just received the Amex Hilton Surpass (60K sign up promo)  and signed up to the New Hilton Double Miles Promo. The hope is that my 12X ppd spend through the Amex will translate into 24 ppd going to my United account.

Does anyone know how the HHonors double points or double miles works in conjunction with the Hilton Honors Amex Surpass card and also being Gold level HHonors member?  I just received my HHonors Amex Surpass card and will use it for a big purchase at Hilton. I signed up for double miles HHonors promo.

Will this mean that I will get 12 ppd at a Hilton property using my Amex Surpass + 25% bonus on base points as a Gold member x 2 going to my listed United partner account?

For example $10K spend using Amex = 120K (10K x 12ppd using Amex) + 30K points (25% bonus as a gold member) = 150K points x 2 = 300K points going to my united account?

AFAIK Amex spend earned hilton points will not go to united nor will they get you 25% bonus.
