Paying for high school
« on: November 01, 2015, 12:55:10 AM »

I have reached the point in my life where I am sending my son off to yeshiva and I have no clue how I am can  to pay for it😢.
Does anyone have any experience? Secrets to share?
How much do you think I can realisticly expect the school to give me for a scholarship?
Thanks!

They are going to ask you for all your income reports and all that stuff. If you say you cant afford it you'll get a scholarship. They will determine how much, but if you really cant afford what they say you can give them numbers of what you can. It'll be a hassel back and forth.
Remember 90% of people dont pay full tuition. Its just not possible for most people.
Also it depends on where you live. Passaic from what I hear wont give you much leeway. Other places will give you more.
I'm not who you think I am.

The prices mentioned by grodnoking are per year and should include room and board.

Remember that this is for all our kids, and if we want for our kids to turn out to be upstanding jews we MUST send them to these school.
Im one of 11 kids. If my parent would need to pay full tuition for all of us it would be $100,000+ which is impossible for them to pay. And all these schools are non profit (99% of them).

What happens when only 4 out 6 kids become upstanding Jews. Did the school really matter? What about the kids that don't go to these schools and still turn out to be upstanding Jews? Who gets the credit for that?

The risk of your kid leaving the fold due to you sending your child to public school is way to big for it to be an option.

They might turn out okay, but if they don't, guess whose fault it is...

Grammar school (1-8 grade) I would agree. When they get to HS age it is pretty much a given how they are going to turn out at that point.

Many find their way during high school. Some way after.

Not from where I come from. Maybe it has greater effect on sheltered kids?
