I have received in d past 2 letters regarding to come as a juror in NY but have throne them away, today I received a letter saying final notice of delinquency and if I'm not appearing in court until 10 days I will get a fine of $1000, my question is does this mean anything can they fine me and that can go on my credit report as a judgement?  or I can just throw them away like d others and nothing will happen?  Pls share your experiences and advice thanks

You will definitely get d fine, so I suggest you show up to d court.
Perhaps when you file for all your government benefits, you can also get a free attorney to represent you and bail you out of jail.

lmao

this is not a joke @ all I realy wana know the answer and you sound like having a ball here

You don't want to know the answer, you want to hear that everything will be OK.  People are telling you that there will be civil, credit and potentially criminal implications for not showing up (not to mention ethics).  And even after the fines and/or criminal penalties, you will still be required to serve your jury duty.  That's the answer even if you don't like it.

They will not accept your lame excuse you didn't get the letters.
It depends if in the OP's state the law is that mail is considered proof of service of not.
They can also send them certified...

Quote
Anyone who fails to respond to three appearance summonses or questionnaires becomes a “non-compliant” juror in the court’s record system.

The next notice is a summons to appear before a judge at a special hearing held Friday mornings at 60 Centre Street.

There, a summons holder has the chance to explain his or her delinquency to a judge, who can choose to issue a fine or default judgment. The latter can ruin the person’s credit and block them from receiving certain state services.

In 2008, there were 2,652 non-compliance cases on call. More than 1,700 default judgments were handed out in addition to more than $40,000 in fines.

I moved apartments, and wasn't getting half my mail that I had the USPS forward to me. Luckily, the warning came, it said I failed to provide info/fill out a questionnaire so now I need to show up or be fined $1000. I stood in line with hundreds of other people, snaking up several blocks of queens blvd.. Took maybe an hour or 2 for me to get to the front, the woman barely looked at my document, stamped it and threw it in a pile. The whole thing was a DMV-esque waste of time. I am so on alert for any of these letters from now on...

They don't care. We sent the letters, you didn't respond, you get fined and judgment entered. Now the ball is in your court. Was it worth it?

Felons are excluded from jury duty in NY according to this report https://www.nysba.org/uploadedFiles/NYSBA/Sections/Criminal_Justice/Records_of_Conviction/BaerCollateralConsequences-WEB.pdf

So maybe just do a felony, and then you're good to go for life.

Nope just a violation. Not even a misdemeanor. But they will file a judgment, not a fine. And they can and do issue warrants to arrest. So tell it to the judge when they haul your chasidish tuchis with excuses down to court.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

I'm not going to argue with you guys I'm done here, you are very misinformed, I made alot of research + got quit a few privat messages from ddf'rs with same storys as mine and they all said that its nothing I spoke to ppl with experiences on there own hand in this case while nobody here (except centro) spoke of there experience in this case you were all just saying go be a jury and just made fun...... So anybody in this situation make your own research and dont rely on some ppl who are just board and thinking that everything is a game...
p.s. Again I'm not going to argue here anymore (so it a waste of time to start now again....) just letting know ppl to do there own research, I wish I could of post all the privat messages I got in in my PM in this matter,  good luck all :)  :P

You truly are pathetic. You think we're all as gullible as you. Go ahead believe what you wish. Just look at the attachment. That is one of thousands of judgments that are entered each year against dummies like you that seek to avoid your civic duty. Or are to lazy to understand that if more of us would be in the jury pool we couldnt (or wouldnt need to) cry discrimination.
