The mob mentality is to do your civic duty. I dont care how busy you were or are or what your excuses are that you cant deal with the court system. If you have kids and are a primary caregiver you are exempt for up to 14 years. How difficult is it to spend a few hours and go down there to tell them that and presto, youre off the hook for a few years. To avoid it and risk your credit and arrest if you really piss them off because you think youre a smartass. To quote Jack Nicholson, "I would rather you said thank you" for saving you from untold heartache.

But instead we have mr kalishnikov and the OP who are shining examples of how not to be grateful for trying to steer a wayward misguided individual.

The lynching that is going on here on this thread is disgusting. I know all too well what it feels like to smugly and condescendingly type a response to someone I consider a n00b but I don't actually act on that to vilify or spew hatred. Too many people here think that because they have a few extra posts than the next guy they're superior in some way. The fact is that the opposite is often true-the more time you spend here the less real work you do and the less your opinions about anything outside of he cyber world or points world should count. To be perfectly honest, your high post counts often reflects the harsh reality that you can't eke out a comfortable living and so need to resort to excessive gaming of the system.
Either way, enough is enough. After threads like this don't look around and wonder "why did XYZ leave" or "where is...". Now you know the answer-the mob mentality of people who think they're better than others is off putting to many. And the few civil members (often those who haven't been around as long) are afraid to speak out.

i went 3 months ago. i didnt even try to give an excuse, but i know ppl who were licking their lips ready to give their excuses ended up returning to the seats, cursing and pissed off
so ya, i wouldnt be so cocky
that being said, its your civil duty stop trying to evade the system

Agreed and its only 1 day. if you dont want to sit on the jury just make up excuses then. Most of the time they wont pick you anyway. And dont say I hate "XXXX" becuase that is a sure sign that will make the judge have you sitting there for an extra day.
