What's Cooking?
« on: November 06, 2015, 08:48:37 AM »
I just put up a 5 lb. short rib roast. Spice rub,  on a bed of sliced onions,  carrots and garlic cloves and  1 cup chicken broth.

Low and slow.

Will glaze with reduced pan juices right before shabbos.

What's a short rib roast? Don't think I've ever seen that

I'm more basic today - have two pans of kugel overnighting in my oven

Basically just uncut flanken

4 long bones covered with meat and a layer of fat on top

Short rib roast is the shiznit and is new thread worthy.  :P (that's my tongue lolling out of my mouth). DW made rib steaks last night and a peppercorn sauce, it was insane and a pretty awesome midweek treat.

Recipe for the steaks with peppercorn sauce?

The ribeye steaks with a peppercorn sauce actually come from a recipe I found online: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/strip-steak-with-pepper-cream-sauce-recipe.html. Instead of the heavy cream, I used parve soy milk and thickened it with two teaspoons of corn starch before adding it to the sauce mixture.
