i come from a family that chips in and helps, we generally don't cater the smaller simchas
so coming from that mentality -

cant u ask a friend or some bochrim, or someone that is good at making food and set up to do this for you for a specific price (price of supplies plus x amount) its not something fancy that u need a caterer for,
anyone can buy bagels, spreads, mezonos, juice, paper goods... and put it out

i have seen plenty brissim made by family and friends. much cheaper then $8-$15 a head

Yup.

A bris is bagels, and cream cheese from costco.  And a sharp knife and strong lips.

LOL. Um...thanks!

On a serious note, though, don't know many people around Passaic. Might try to do it myself, but Trying to figure out what the options are, and how much it would cost either way...

Of course. One package for yourself to eat with the leftover bagels.

The price includes everything from table cloths to coffee,  the only things the price does not include is the hall and waiters (and the mohel) which is costing me an additional $250 for the hall and $85 per waiter.
How much did you pay the mohel?

Looking at the post you quoted, the kid he made a Bris for is probably making a Bris for his own kid by now! :D

Just made a bris a few weeks ago, used bagel hole and was very happy with them! Not expensive and very good service. Paid about $11 a person including hot dishes

Just saw this...

I paid the Mohel $600. I think that the Mohel is not allowed to charge a set amount or ask for money.

If i recall correctly the unofficial mohel rate at the time was $300-600.

Henche, I wasn't at your bris, but I hope that this is what you served

Henche, I wasn't at your bris, but I hope that this is what you served

So my excuse is that I was 200 miles from home, in NY. And my yeshiva, where I made it, doesn't allow self-catering. So I paid for the regular yeshiva's catering ($12 dollars a person * 70 = $840).

I used my younger brother as the mohel. He did a good job. I've been getting unsolicited comments from doctors that it was a good job. I wonder if they also comment about it to not obviously frum people.
