Apparently, when booking thru ANA, you need to fly VS in both directions if you want to fly VS.
They wont book it LH on the outbound and VS on the return

That's right...similar to UA and others, ANA won't mix Star and non-Star.

Pretty annoying. I could have paid 136k ANA + $336.00 for 2 passengers instead of paying 210k CO + $600.00

+1, seems too low.
07/03-07/08 from IAD-LHR-IAD in VS J using CO miles for 2 pax is 210K+$532.60 of which $400 is UK APD and $100 is UK PSC.
