If he hasn't published seforim, has virtually no talmidim and lives out in the boondocks I don't see how or why the velt should know of him...

Any normal even haezer question i have heard of is usually handled by established botei din. The big shailos in even haezer are generally moved up to senior gedolim by the botay din. (R belski in the USA, but mostly R Elyashiv zl, R Nisim karelitz's and others.)

It seems like RNG has been used to pasken shailos for the more out of town type of crowd. Not necessarily modern Orthodox, but he is definitely not one of the regular yeshivish used poskim.

I'd heard of him in yeshiva when discussing gittin. I was also present at an OOT get where he was the shliach haget (and had fedexed it to OOT and appointed the local rabbi sheliach).

He is one probably the top person in america for gittin. He flies under the radar because he lives in Memphis but is considered by everyone even in the yeshivish crowd(not in EY)  as a the top gun in gittin.

I don't know what's done in big cities but what rav nota was always famous for was traveling all over the south and being mesadder gittin for everyone.  Btw he also was the posek for many eruvin and mikvaos.

Not many that I know of.  In the Rav's shul office with 2 edim.

It dose not  have to be in a beis din. Even when they are if  any sticky situation arises where a its not clear cut case they will contact reb nota
Any gittin in  Florida Gerogia  Texas and any other community around there he pretty much does the gittin himself.

All gittin are done in beis din, but that frequently means done by a rav who shelps in a couple of local kollel guys to be his second and third.

Yes they are all done in the presence of 3 . Not a established beis din Ive been in the room of a few gittin.

You obviously don't know enough about the inyan of gittin to spew your opinion on this matter.  If you did, you would've at least heard of him. It seems that until this saga, you've never even knew he existed.

First of all, I disagree with the premiss that hearing of R Notta Greenblatt is synonymous with knowing about inyoney gittin.


The point I am making is that many people here have attempted to defend the heter by saying that RNG is the "Gadol hador leinyaney Gittin", and is therefore a Bal pelugsa on kol gedolay hador who have decried his actions here.
