In the states that require written consent, is it enforceable? How do they know where I am if i'm on a cell phone? Area code of caller? Has anyone ever heard of this being an issue when it comes to proving to airlines etc the content of a phone call that took place in CA for example?

If it really comes to court, they can probably subpoena your cellphone provider to show where you were located when you made the call.

CMIIW, but if they say they're recording the call then you're allowed to as well, without explicit permission.

I always heard that you have to tell someone when you're recording them.

That certainly depends on the state. Many are one-party consent states.

These folks just can't get anything right.

They should've overnighted it on their dime after the whole mess up!
